Train like a boxer to get in great shape! This is the ultimate cardiovascular challenge with a unique blend of intense intervals, strength-endurance training, and a blast of boxing moves. Classes are led by the Boxmaster, Butch Marasco, and held in the gymnasium.

Lifeguard Certification and Recertification

Saturday, 8:00AM – 6:00PM | Sunday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard?

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.

 

This is a blended learning  course, combining online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency.

Required Materials

(must have before first class!):

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Manual

Can be purchased from www.redcrossstore.org or downloaded for free at www.americanredcross.org.

  • Adult/Child and Infant CPR Mask

Included in cost of full certification course. If you do not have a CPR mask for the re-certification course, you can purchase one at www.redcrossstore.org or from the Wellness Center.

Course Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 15 before the final scheduled session (proof required)
  • Attend and participate in all course sessions
  • Perform all required skills with 100% accuracy
  • Score at least 80% on the final exams
  • The following skills must be demonstrated  in the pre-test:
  • Swim 300 yards continuously using the front crawl and breaststroke
  • Swim 20 yards, retrieve 10-pound object, then swim 20 yards back to starting point and remove object without ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only

Join Ralph Parks for Race Day.  Ralph will properly set up each student to ensure they have the ride of their life.  Participants will be lead through winding hills and heavy climbs racing to the end using the 3D interactive Spivi.   Fitness tests and other fun challenges can be expected while listening to motivating music.

Bio: Ralph E. Parks

Business Development Liaison at Washington Health System Occupational Medicine Department. Ralph is new to his role with the Washington Health System having joined them in October of 2017. Ralph is responsible for building and enhancing critical corporate accounts while managing and maintaining strategic relationships. He holds a certification in Indoor Cycling through Cycling Fusion. He started teaching indoor cycling classes at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center in January 2018.

Dance Through The Decades

Saturday, May 12

11:00 – 12:00PM

Join us as we dance through the decades! 

Each month will focus on a different decade, first up the 1960's.  Class begins with a warm up stretch, then students will learn dance moves popular from the 60's era.  After that a routine incorporating those moves will be taught.  Beginner?  Advanced?  This class is designed for all ability levels, the routine's difficulty can be modified so that you can dance at your own pace.  Enjoy good music and dancing with friends while getting a great workout.  Challenge yourself to learn something new and get ready to move!

Bethany has been a dance teacher the past seven years for students of all ages and ability levels.  She has taught recreational dance classes for beginners as well as advanced classes where she choreographed solos, duets and large group pieces for dance competitions.  She has also coordinated and choreographed for a series of dance concept videos and local performances with her dance peers.  Teaching is her passion and she loves helping others improve their skills and to achieve their dancing goals.  She looks forward to having you in class!

Spring Cycling Challenge

Bike from Washington to Washington D.C. in 1 month!

Members are invited  to compete as individuals to complete the distance of

245 miles during the month of May. Distance will be tracked during Indoor Cycling classes, by riding on your own in the cycling studio or on the fitness floor.

Members that complete 245 miles by May 31st will receive a $5 Wellness Center Gift Card!

WRCWC Dodgeball Tournament

Join us for the Duck & Dodge City Championship Dodgeball Tournament at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center! 

Teams will compete in a best 2 out of 3 tournament to crown a dodgeball champion!  This event will take place in the gymnasium from 12 – 2pm. Get your team of 6 together and register at the front desk today! 

No team, no worry!

Everyone has a desire to reach a certain level of fitness. Break away from your normal routine on the fitness floor and join us in our Outdoor Fitt Extreme. Instructor Butch Marasco can help you achieve your desired level of fitness by combining a strong mindset with the body to overcome obstacles, both physical and mental. Outdoor Fitt Extreme is designed to help you achieve your ultimate fitness goals in a fun, supportive environment. Classes are suitable for all ability levels and will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
